Mitochondriales TRNH-Gen
Das mitochondriale Gen mit der offiziellen Bezeichnung MT-TH kodiert die Transport-RNA (tRNA) für Histidin (H). Es wid von den Nukleotiden 12138-12206 kodiert. Mutationen in diesem Gen können verschiedene mitochondriale Erkrankungen auslösen. Dazu gehören die MELAS- und MERFF-Syndrome, Kardiomyopathie, Retinitis pigmentosa und Innenohrschwerhörigkeit. Alle mitochondrialen Gene werden im Zuge einer Diagnostik mitochondrialer Erkrankungen gemeinsam untersucht.
