Bei der familiären transienten neonatalen Hyperbilirubinämie finden sich bei Neugeborenen vorübergehend erhöhte Werte unkonjugierten Bilirubins im Serum. Als Ursache werden verschiedene Hemmstoffe des Bilirubinabbaus diskutiert. Ebenso konnte ein Polymorphismus im UGT1A1-Gen gefunden werden, der mit dieser Erkrankung korreliert.
