Die Lp(a) Hypercholesterinämie ist durch besonders hohe Lp(a)-Spiegel definiert. Meist werden gleichzeitig hohe LDL-Cholesterinwerte gemessen. Die Lp(a)-Werte korrelieren mit dem Risiko für arteriosklerotische Herz- und Gefäßewrkrankungen. Die genetische Ursache liegt in einer Copy-Number Variation innerhalb des LPA-Gens.
